Happy Birthday … not yet

Tomorrow (January 15th) is my birthday.

I want this.

Kinokuniya (the Japanese bookstore in my area) does not carry this manga, so I always have to pay through the nose in shipping costs to get it from Japan.

Have I already read the scans from the magazine that this manga is serialized in months in advance? Yes.

Have I also read the scan of this exact book already? Yes.

Am I a dick for writing an entry the day before my birthday and asking for handouts? Of course not. You’re the dick for making me remind you that my birthday is coming soon.

Creativity does not masturbate and reproduce asexually. It must be nurtured and showered with material goods. Artists and writers do their thing for the money (and possibly sexual favors). Anyone who says otherwise is probably can’t afford Internet access so I don’t have to worry about stepping on anyone’s toes.

You’re not just buying me some dumb manga with a high(er than normal) frequency of recycled boob and panty jokes. This is a symbol of validation. It’s a tangible piece of the symbiotic relationship that we possess as writer and reader. How else would I know that my voice is being heard and appreciated by you? What will keep me up late at night as I’m pounding away at my keyboard trying to think of something amusing to talk about? How else would I get my sense of legitimacy? What? Enable comments? Get out, you charlatan!

With this added motivation, maybe I’ll write something worth reading for a change. Please note that the third season of Marimite is coming soon. You know that I’ll be on top of that shit. Overall, I think buying me this gift is a worthy investment. Not doing so could have some disastrous results. LK.com could end up like those other blogs. Not the good ones, no… Some of them are pretty damn good. I’m talking about those that have zero comments/trackbacks, consist of nothing but 56 screenshots and a goddamn synopsis that anyone could write. Those are just fucking sad.

Anyway, if I go through all this just to get a free manga book, you know that shipping rate is some serious shit. You’ve been warned. Proceed with caution.

You may now wish me a happy birthday. Comments are open until whenever I feel like closing them.
