Remakes

“Listen, son… Your mother and I had a long talk and we decided to make another kid. We’ve seen kids made by other families and we realized that we can do a lot better. Don’t worry, we won’t forget about you. We’ll bring guests over to point and laugh at you from time to time and talk about how outdated and ugly you are.”

Is this what parents tell their children when they’re expecting another child? I wonder what Toei thinks about the new Kanon anime. It sure looks nice but it’s still going to have 5 different story paths ramming head first into each other into one giant garbled mess of “YOU’RE DYING AND YOUR SISTER HATES YOU??? WHAT YOUR MOM GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT AND YOU LOVE ME EVEN THOUGH WE’RE FIRST COUSINS!!!!???? YOU STABBED WHO IN THE WHAT NOW?!!?!?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE A GHOST!?!?!? WHAT? YOUR THIRD WISH?!?!? CAN YOU WISH THAT I ACTUALLY GET LAID IN THIS VERSION??!! WAIT, WHERE IS MAKOTO!??!” Instead of ending the misery in 12 short weeks, it’s going to last twice as long. Is this what you people really want?

I also spotted some jabronie online who said that “THEY BETTER GO WITH NAYUKI ENDING!!!!!!!” To that I say “YOU BETTER START ON ONLINE PETITION!!!!”

If you’re going for a remake, at least do it like Negima. Now, my history with Negima is a strange one. I’ve never seen the anime or read any of the manga. My knowledge strictly comes from Negimaho Radio and select H-doujinshi (the one where this girl who looks like Naru dresses up as another girl who also looks like Naru and gets gangbanged). But even then I know that the different path that they’re supposedly taking with the second series would be a great improvement from the first one. I did see the opening for the second series, though. I thought it was really cool but if you’re making an anime for TV-Tokyo, don’t have a low angle shot of a girl running with a skirt on. It makes everyone look stupid.

So what kind of change in direction would make this Kanon remake acceptable? 4 words:
