what do you think of the lakers now?

3 Name: LK - Admin : 2008-06-18 23:58 ID:vgt3OMLB [Del]

I'm not happy that they lost but I'm also not very surprised, either. Ever since they blew game 4, I knew that they were going to get destroyed in Boston. But here are a few thoughts to chew on during the offseason.

  1. Lamar Odom has gots to go. He has an expiring contract and an abnormally high salary so he's great trade bait. I'd love to see the Lakers acquire a defensive-minded forward who's actually capable of jumping and raising his arms at the same time to grab some rebounds. I also absolutely hate how his jersey becomes mysteriously untucked 2 minutes into the first quarter. He's always the only guy on the floor who looks like he has a dress on. If they can't trade him then the least the Lakers can do is harvest his organs for money and treat everyone else to a night full of tacos and strippers. You don't need to pay the potential (more on that next) fourth option on your team eighty gazillion dollars.
  2. Andrew Bynum's injury is starting to worry me. With the extended recovery period and the general hush-hush in the media, this could be the start of a downfall not unlike the one suffered by Mark Prior. That scenario is unlikely but we'll see when next season rolls around.
  3. I don't like how Phil Jackson gets a free pass just because he won 9 titles. Seriously, what does this guy do during his practices? The Lakers looked like scared children out there. I know the coach has no control over what the players choose to do on the court. But doesn't some of the burden of reinforcing basketball fundamentals like rebounding or catching a ball fall on the coaching staff? Coaches like to talk about making "adjustments" during halftime interviews but the only adjustments I saw were the Lakers players migrating further and further away from the basket as the game progressed and heaving 28 footers with no regard for human decency. Maybe I'm not being fair to Phil but he should have done SOMETHING different in the span of 6 games.
  4. A recurring theme in the series was the following:

Kobe drives to the basket but sees 5 green/white jerseys in the paint.

  • He kicks it to the outside to the shooters. CLANK!
  • He finds a small gap and makes a pass to someone near the basket. BUTTERFINGERS!

When half of your offensive options are limited to a fucking candy bar, you're not going to win very many games. You'd think they learn after the first 18 times or so. Nope, the same shit was happening until the second half of game 6. It only got better because the Celtics stopped playing defense after a while.

5. The Lakers could have won the three other games that they lost prior to game 6. They had the lead late into the fourth in game 1. They were one defensive stop away from potentially tying the game with less than a minute to go in game 2. Game 4 was at home and then there's that whole TWENTY-FOUR POINT LEAD thing. Even if they won just ONE of those boners, I'd be drawing a perfect blueprint on how to ditch work early to watch game 7 in its entirety. If they won two out of three, then I'd be camping out by Staples Center to watch the victory parade in person.

I like toehoes. Anyone who doesn't like toehoes is a fucking pinko. How can anyone not like video games and/or little girls?

I play the shmups whenever they come out. Moutain of Faith was really bad, though. I hope the next one is better. Sometimes, when I leave for work in the morning, I fire up Phantasmagoria of Flower View and pit two Lunatic CPU Mystias against each other. By the time I come home from work, they still haven't killed each other yet. It's my screen saver.

I used to play IaMP all the time with Marisa (only because I loved doing the square jump rushdown) as my main. Then I got tired of losing so I played Yuyuko. This was ages before that netplay client came out. I had to find local competition, which was... yeah... some of those fuckers need to fucking bathe. Thankfully, my doozinsi gaming days are long behind me now.

I tried Scarlet Weather Rhapsody but I didn't like it too much. Everyone seems to bitch about the weather system, which I'd agree with if actually played the damn thing.

Outside of the games, I'm not too into it. I don't really read any of the doozinsi or collect fanart (minus the attached image because I have a soft spot for crossovers of any kind) or anything equally unsexy. I DEFINITELY don't blast the toehoe music in my car while I'm driving.

The BBS is back because I feel like it. If the spammers are too much for me to handle like last time, then I'll shut it down again. The captcha codes should deter them, but you never know these days.

The new feature this time around is the image uploading. The new host isn't as stingy as the last one so I should be able to get away with maintaining a BBS with image hosting without getting screwed over.

The file size limits are pretty strict. As it stands now, I don't allow anything bigger than 1MB. I'll probably lower it in the future. This isn't a full-scale imageboard. There is nothing in this world that you must absolutely upload that can't be downscaled to meet the size requirements.

FUCK! IE isn't showing the BBS page correctly...
